I’ll be honest—my first trip to Cyprus didn’t impress me much. I was here for work, with barely any free time, and what little I saw didn’t stir my soul. The second time wasn’t much different. Yes, I had more time and wandered through the tourist hotspots with friends, but still, Cyprus felt like a postcard destination—pretty, but not unforgettable.

Then came my third visit. And that’s when everything changed.

This time, I had a car, a free spirit, and a few days off. I followed the brown signs that dotted the roads, curious to see where they would take me. What I found was a Cyprus most visitors never see—ancient ruins perched on hillsides, centuries-old monasteries tucked away in mountains, villages where time seemed to stand still, and hidden corners that told stories older than memory. Suddenly, the island unfolded before me like a treasure map, each turn revealing something unexpected, something magical.

That was the moment Cyprus captured my heart. Six years later, I’m still here—and now, I call this island home.

Yes, it’s marketed as a sun, sea, and party island—and it does deliver on all those fronts. But look closer, and you’ll discover so much more. Cyprus is an island of contrasts, a place where seasons transform the land and unlock new ways to explore. Autumn and winter bring out the island’s wild beauty. The beaches and sparkling sea are still here, but so are snow-dusted ski slopes, crisp mountain air, and villages alive with tradition. You can hike through pine forests one day, explore ancient ruins the next, and even stumble upon a monastery that feels frozen in time.

This isn’t just a destination for sun seekers and all inclusive holidays—it’s for the curious, the seekers, the travelers who want to dig deeper.
